LEXINGTON PAL RAIDERS FOOTBALL PROGRAM wins Championships in the

Central Kentucky Football League

Lexington PAL is pleased to announce that all three age divisions (6-7,8-9, and 10-12) won their respective championship games on Sunday, As you are aware this year our football program participated  in the Central Kentucky Football League, the league consisted of teams from Lexington, Nicholasville, Versailles, and Frankfort.  We had approximately 120 youth that participated in this year’s PAL League.

The weekend of November 20-22, 2009, the 8-9 and 11-12 year old divisions will be participating in the Battle of Rocky Top Youth “Kick Off Classic in Knoxville, Tennessee. Teams competing at this tournament has included teams from KY,OH, ID, TN, MD, MI, MO.

The PAL Football League has allowed these PAL youth to gain the fundamentals of the game, as well as teach self-discipline and confidence.  Many of our 12 years that will be going to middle school next year will have the skills and knowledge to try-out and make the middle school team.

We commend Officer Michael Smith in coordinating the football program along with Officer Greg Brown, Jonathan Washington and a special thanks to Officer Rahsaan Berry, who volunteered many of his on hours to assist Officer Michael Smith with our 6-7 year old division this year.

We (PAL) will conclude our football season with a recognition banquet for our players and volunteer coaches at the end of this month.  To see some highlights of the football team visit the Lexington PAL website at www.lexingtonpal.com .

The PAL officers appreciates the support that Lexington Division of Police has given, and allowed us to continue our efforts to build a positive relationships between police officers and youth in the Lexington Community and surrounding areas.

Lexington PAL Cobra's Competes in the

2009 National PAL Boxing Championships

San Antonio Texas

Two Lexington PAL youth boxers participated in the 2009 PAL National Boxing Championship

Two of our Lexington PAL youth boxers participated in the 2009 PAL National Championship Amateur Boxing Tournament in San Antonio.

Sariah Edwards was unopposed in the Junior Olympic Division at 154lbs, and was therefore crowned the 2009 PAL National Champion.

Traynora Locke, the reigning USA Boxing National Champion, dominated her bout in the semi-final with a score of 15-0. She then boxed Denise Rico, of California, in the final. Rico is a very experienced ring veteran with extensive experience in the amateurs. Locke turned in another great performance, but lost a very close decision.

Both females represented the Division of Police in a very positive manner, both in and out of the ring. They were also afforded the opportunity to meet numerous former World Champions such as Floyd Mayweather Sr., Ann Wolfe, Luis “Yory Boy” Campas, and Jesse James Leja. We would like to thank all of you that have supported the program since its inception.

The level of success we have enjoyed so quickly far exceeds any expectations that We had for the program at this juncture. We now intend to focus on increasing the number of participants during the winter months, while we will not be participating so extensively in national tournaments

 Subject: Richmond Boxing Event Results

This past Saturday three of our youth boxers competed in a show hosted by Richmond Golden Gloves.  Adonis Moreno, winner of the Mayor’s Cup tournament last month, won a unanimous decision in his bout; remaining undefeated.  Arizona Miranda (10yoa) and Javier Rodriguez (15) made their amateur debut.  They were both matched against talented novice boxers from a very good Johnson City, Tennessee team.  Both boxers performed well, but lost decisions in their bouts.  Our participants were injury free during the event.  Javonte Thomas (Mayor’s Cup Champion) and Kyle Ruff (Mayor’s Cup runner up) were not matched and did not box
